Job Description

Responsible for maximizing membership via new sales and retention opportunities in their assigned territory by partnering with Producers and Consultants. The primary focus is managing the designated territory and selling BCBSNC health and ancillary products in the individual under 65 market segment. This position is the lead relationship manager for Producers selling and renewing business in the segment. Additionally, the position is responsible for promoting the growth of a Producer’s book of business with BCBSNC by selling and demonstrating the BCBSNC value proposition.

About Core Insurance Group at Blue Cross NC

The Core Insurance Group (CIG) is responsible for sales, retention, market strategy, pricing, and product and segment performance for our commercial business. The division is also responsible for reporting, sales technology, product piloting and product management operations for all CIG markets. Our CIG product segments are individual, under 65; local group; major group; specialty segments and the State Health Plan.

As a Regional Sales Executive with Core Insurance Group, you will be supporting the under 65 segment to build personal relationships with agents in the field maximize new sales and renewals. Success in this position requires the use of analytical skills to solve problems and support internal and external partners. Weekly travel obligations to visit with partners averages about 2-3 days per week within the assigned territory.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Producers and Consultants to meet target marketing plans for new and renewal business.

  • Sell, prospect and service by managing time and territory effectively.

  • Assist in developing marketing strategies for agencies.

  • Manages producer expectations through a consultative relationship approach.

  • Responsible for representing BCBSNC and project the corporate image to Producers/Consultants and decision makers, anticipate needs and reactions of both. Explain corporate policy and its efforts to contain rates through health care cost containment, utilization review, etc.

  • Develop, implement, and present sales and retention strategies to Producers/Consultants that focus on BCBSNC key strengths and differentiators to help close accounts and maximize membership growth.

  • Sells Individual rate increases through effective communication with Producers

  • Manages the individual renewal process.

  • Maintain current, accurate, and in-depth knowledge of corporate policies and procedures relative to benefits, rating, claims, billing, e-commerce tools, service capabilities and overall industry knowledge.

  • Keep abreast of market trends, activities and products of competitors and the economy. Plan sales strategies which reflect knowledge of all forces affecting the marketing of health care insurance.

  • Collaborate and negotiates with internal and external partners to find solutions that meet the customer’s needs.

  • Use all available approved marketing strategies to increase BCBSNC membership in assigned territory. This includes the review and approval of ads as requested.

  • Responsible for analyzing territory to determine appropriate number of producing agents to achieve sales and retention objectives.

  • Provides Producer/Consultant training on BCBSNC products and services

  • Uphold compliance standards.

  • Ensure proper, timely and accurate response to inquiries, and timely and accurate submission of internal reports.

  • Make recommendations and suggestions for product and procedural additions/changes when deemed necessary to achieve sales and service goals and objectives.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)

  • 5+ years of experience in related field

  • In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Must have a North Carolina Health and Life Insurance license

Nice to Have

  • Thorough knowledge of the health insurance market and new sales opportunity development, experience with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) preferred

  • Strong people skills and the ability to be resourceful, as well as to make concise, independent, and defensible decisions in often high-pressure situations.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to multi-task allowing timely completion of duties.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing detailed and complex information to others that possess varying degrees of comprehension.

  • Professional presentation and strong negotiation skills

Compensation

This is a sales incentive role with a total compensation package that consists of a base salary and sales incentive target component. All sales roles are eligible for an initial draw/guarantee to assist new hires with their on-boarding with the company.
