BECU Intern: Associate SDET in Remote, Arizona

PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $18 - $25/hr hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE

As an Associate Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) -Intern at BECU, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Under the guidance of senior SDETs, you will write automated tests, create test scripts, and develop test data to validate application performance and reliability. You will gain hands-on experience in debugging applications, performing root cause analysis, and automating test execution for software builds. This role offers you the opportunity to enhance your technical skills and contribute to building enterprise-class software in a collaborative environment.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Collaborate and Debug: Work closely with team members to analyze code flow, debug applications and services, and identify root causes of software defects to ensure reliability and quality.

  • Create and Execute Tests: Write integration, load, and UI automation tests in C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript to validate application performance and user experience.

  • Develop Test Scenarios: Design test scenarios and cases from requirements, ensuring they are automatable and aligned with project goals.

  • Automate Test Data: Automate the creation of test data in test database instances to streamline and enhance the testing process.

  • Ensure Quality: Collaborate with the development and QA teams to identify risks, classify errors, and maintain the highest quality standards for applications and services.

  • Learn and Grow: Work under the mentorship of senior SDETs, gaining insights into testing best practices, tools, and frameworks.

  • Support Software Builds: Automate test execution and validation during software builds, ensuring smooth and efficient deployment processes.

  • Perform Additional Duties: Take on additional responsibilities to support team objectives and organizational goals.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of one year of experience designing test cases and writing automated tests in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Knowledge of open-source testing technologies.

  • Experience with Test-Driven Development concepts, methods, and tools.

  • Proficiency with Git for version control.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using automation frameworks.
