The Health and Safety Coordinator role is based in Saskatchewan and reports directly to the Area Health and Safety Manager.   This position can be located at our office in either Regina or Saskatoon, SK with regular travel within Saskatchewan.

What you’ll get to do

  • Proactively manage Safety and Health of employees to continuously improve the company’s safety and health performance

  • Provide on-going Safety and Health support and guidance to plant/location management and employees in the Saskatchewan operations

  • Implement and support all Heidelberg Materials Canada Safety and Health programs including all regulatory compliance programs and the Heidelberg Materials Safety/Health Management System

  • Continuous interpretation and compliance planning for current and emerging safety regulatory requirements at all levels affecting the assigned facilities including Provincial, Federal, and local legislation.

  • Monitor and proactively report facility Safety and Health performance and conduct local site safety training

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant safety experience or equivalent combination, preferably in a construction or construction materials industry

  • Post secondary safety certification

  • Experience in managing WCB and return to work programs

  • Experience and competence in developing and implementing safety programs

  • Computer and software proficiency, particularly Microsoft Office

  • Ability to embrace all of the aspects of the job such as accountability for the people, assets, and performance of the site; work fluctuating hours

  • Must have clean class 5 driver’s license

  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • NCSO Certification

  • Occupational Health and Safety Diploma/certificate

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment both inside and outside with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions

  • This position will be required to travel to our operations within Saskatchewan, approximately 50% of the time
