Summary About the Position: Laborer position located in Reedsville, OH within the Huntington District, performing a variety of facility and grounds maintenance; will work under the supervision of the Site Manager, and other higher-graded employees. Responsibilities Assist with removing, loading, unloading, disposing brush and painting. Operate motorized government vehicles to transport supplies and/or materials to various locations throughout the project. Able to read and follow both oral and written instructions. Perform maintenance on vehicles. Opening and unpacking cartons. Custodial duties such as sweeping and emptying trash. Occasional use of simple hand and power tools. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) LABORER (MVO) without more than normal supervision. Performed simple manual tasks that require a basic understanding of cleaning, grounds maintenance and lifting procedures; performed routine operator maintenance of hand tools and equipment; safely used industrial cleaners (typically used in households) and basic hand and yard tools and equipment, such as a rake, pitch fork, wheelbarrow, hand-pump sprayer, hand truck, shovel, push lawn mower (manual), hammer, screwdriver, wrench, and pliers; and performed routine work assignments with little or no assistance (e.g., picking up all paper and trash around the work site three times a week) - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order) The duties require light to moderate physical effort which involves moderate lifting and carrying light to medium-weight objects weighing up to 30 pounds and walking, bending, stooping, standing, and reaching. Work may be outdoors with exposure to all kinds of weather conditions, but usually not in bad weather. May be exposed to drafty, noisy, dusty, and dirty conditions. The work involves standing and walking on create floors and uneven terrain. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation. Direct deposit of pay is required. Seasonal employment means annually recurring periods of work of less than 12 months each year. Seasonal employees are permanent employees who are placed in non-duty/non-pay status and recalled to duty in accordance with pre-established conditions of employment.
