Downtown Streets Team Part-Time Encampment Waste Services Coordinator & Driver in Redwood City, California

SUMMARY: The Encampment Waste Services Coordinator will also serve as a driver and lead with the volunteer Team Members, responding to illegal dumping reports submitted to the city. The Coordinator will be responsible for responding and updating the open requests on the city Accela Dashboard and report back to the Program Manager any issues and or incidents. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Safely drive a large van or truck with an attached trailer with other occupants Provide weekly bagged trash picks up at local homeless encampments, keeping a routine on a daily basis Develop a trust-based relationship at the local encampments and build accountability Manage daily illegal dumping reports across Redwood City through the MyRWC app supporting public works Take before and after photos of large cleanups and submit them daily to the Program Manager Complete all assigned paperwork for vehicle maintenance, debris pickup, and impact tracking Supervise and Coast DST Team Leads and Team Members while on shift, check-in in on Team while out on route and ensuring compliant program participation Act with professionalism in your role, keeping healthy boundaries with DST Team Members and people at local encampments-never using your position or resources for things outside the scope of work Interact with members of the local community with respect, patience, and kindness Share resources with community members that can support them achieving goals specifically related to housing, employment, transportation, and health Accurately report hours worked in time tracking application, notifying the Program Manager immediately with missed punches or incorrect hours Participate and attend the DST Success Meetings and occasionally lead portions of the meeting as requested by Program Manager Conduct outreach to community members and recruit potential Team Members to join DST Resolve conflicts and de-escalate situations as needed on shift, never getting physical or swearing Work cooperatively with the community, volunteers, neighboring communities and other agencies Always wear approved uniform and gloves and use provided tools when working Participate in a weekly 1:1 with Program Manager to check in and develop professionally Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and agreements, immediately reporting any and all accidents or rule breaking to supervisor Ensure that DST is creating positive impact in our local community COMMUNITY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Support Redwood City community programs in conjunction with the city and/or county of San Mateo Report as required to Redwood City and county partners Update city dashboard in a timely manner Ensure requests made for illegal dumping are responded within the allotted time Expected time commitment- Part time employment, from 4 to 20 hours (4 hour shifts) Shifts are Monday-Friday WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Friendly, reliable, and good communication skills Ability to work independently and or in a team setting Valid CA Driver’s License with clean driving record and insurance for 3 years+ Ability to effectively maneuver work vehicles with trailer attached PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following: Sitting, kneel, reach forward, overhead, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting (up to 35 lbs.)
