This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Technical Writer-Editor located in the AMCOM LOGISTICS CENTER, Acquisition and Sustainment Logistics Directorate. Responsibilities Development and/or update of Technical Manuals (TMs), Department of the Army Modification Work Orders (DAMWOs), and Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs) Review and interpret technical documentation and source data (i.e. engineering drawings, technical data package, engineering change proposals, etc) to identify impacts to technical manuals. Serve as a Logistics focal point engaged in directing, developing, and/or implementing logistics policies, processes, initiatives, and/or programs for major, highly complex weapon systems acquisitions in the areas of Logistics support. Interpret DA Form 2028 and incorporate data changes to technical publications Coordinate changes with illustrators, publication services, equipment specialists and editors to verify accuracy of text and graphics within each DMWR, MWO, TB and TM Perform edits and reviews changes to DMWR, MWO, TB and TM in Standard Generalized Markup Language (SML) or Extensible Markup Language (XML). Develop and perform maintenance of Extensible Markup Language (XML) Schema Definitions and data. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that demonstrates writing and/or editing publications for one or more of the following: weapons systems, components, armaments or vehicle systems; participating in the Technical Manual verification of publications; and managing technical and equipment publications.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
