Job Summary:

Plans, organizes, and directs the operation, maintenance, and repair of buildings and facilities throughout the base. This position involves highly technical, skilled, and supervisory maintenance and repair work for the building and structure functions.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply management team building skills to motivate crews to collaborate problem solving, quality work, and high production levels.

  • Maintain time and material records.

  • Validate and authorize material requisition forms from tradesmen to ensure only required items are ordered, received, and utilized.

  • Ensures equipment, tools, and supplies are properly inventoried, maintained, and used at all times.

  • Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training.

  • Supervises department staff in the operation and maintenance of the Redstone facilities, buildings, and grounds, and associated real property assets.

  • Records, reviews, and analyzes inspection data to predict potential failures and recommend appropriate methods of repair.

  • Establishes, reviews, and updates programs and procedures for maintenance staff.

  • All paperwork to be accurate, complete, and meet established deadlines.

  • Must be able to manage emergency utility breaks ensuring compliance with all safety requirements and read and understand blueprints to locate where laterals are to be repaired or installed.

  • Must be able to ensure that all utility work conforms to customer policies and procedures and is performed in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Performs building inspections and provides guidance regarding system reliability by evaluating building conditions and recommending scheduled repair or replacement, coordinating repairs with other departments, meeting with managers to review services and customer satisfaction, and meeting with customer groups to review concerns and implement corrective measures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Shall have at minimum a bachelor's degree or higher in business, engineering, or architectural disciplines, or shall have a minimum of 10 years’ management experience in facilities management.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience supervising large workforces.

  • Knowledge of DoD regulations instructions, and directives, safety guidance.

  • Supervision of site construction works, field inspections, comprehensive reports and quality control, planning, quantity surveying, cost and progress analysis, drawings, specifications, work methodologies, and contract analysis.

  • Competence in facility inspections and OSHA compliance.

  • Management of budgets, manpower, and materials.

  • Knowledge of environmental matters relating to materials handling.

  • Background in public works, including management and supervision of a multi facility property.

  • Through knowledge of national, State, and local code requirements.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills to successfully work with all departments and sections.

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
