The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of Northrop Grumman Space Systems sector pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support.
We are seeking either a Principal Systems Engineer or Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our talented team in Redondo Beach, CA. As a Systems Engineer you will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for the satellite system.
This position will focus primarily on system engineering for resource controller software requirements analysis, decomposition, and allocation from system-level requirements down to lower-level requirements; preparing content for delta-PDR and CDR; document software design in model; software requirements mapping and analysis; software qualification testing; software integration; and liaising with subject matter experts, analysts, architects, designers, and specialty engineers to ensure requirements are defined holistically, completely, and unambiguously for an integrated system.
This position is contingent upon program award and/or customer funding.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Systems Engineer: 5 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years of relevant experience with Masters; 1 Year of relevant experience with PhD
Senior Principal Systems Engineer: 8 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years of relevant experience with Masters; 4 Years of relevant experience with PhD
Active DoD Secret clearance required at the time of application
Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
Experience with front end of SE “vee” requirements analysis and decomposition and generation of requirement specifications
Experience with requirements verification and qualification testing
Ability to collaborate and contribute to technical discussions with fellow team members, cross-organizational teams, and management
Ability to work closely with software developers and/or programing experience
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Agile and DevOps
Embedded systems software development, integration, and test experience
Familiar with processing payloads and/or Military communication satellites
Familiar with SIMICS and VxWorks 7.0
Programming Languages: C/C++, Python
Experience using DOORS or equivalent requirements management database
Experience with CAMEO
Experience working with Software and Hardware teams
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Salary Range: $110,300 - $165,500
Salary Range 2: $137,400 - $206,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
