Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. West Region Senior Data Center Program Manager. you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
As part of the Americas Datacenter Operations team, the West Region Datacenter Operations Senior Program Manager will provide leadership will support our current and future growth. In this role you will work collaboratively with all CO+I stakeholders to support the strategic vision for the organization and a governance methodology from conception to completion driving excellence in service through industry best practices.
As a successful West Region Datacenter PM your day-to-day work will include:
Training and Development : Assist data center teams in learning roles, processes, and best practices. This involves creating and delivering training programs, mentoring team members, and ensuring that all staff are up-to-date with the latest procedures and technologies.
Project Management : Oversee complex technologies and projects to meet service delivery goals. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This includes coordinating with various departments and stakeholders.
Implementation : Ensure smooth implementation of pilot programs for future service delivery. You will participate in pilot programs, evaluate their success, and make recommendations for broader implementation to improve service delivery.
Standardization : Establish and drive the adoption of standard toolsets. This involves setting criteria and requirements for service execution tools, identifying the best tools for the job, and ensuring their consistent use across multiple service teams.
Engineering Support : Provide input to mature tooling and meet field operations requirements. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure that tools and processes meet the needs of field operations and support the overall goals of the organization.
Issue Prevention : Identify potential issues to prevent escalations and guide correct escalation of issues. This includes proactively monitoring operations, identifying potential problems before they escalate, and providing guidance on how to handle issues when they arise.
Partnership Building : Engage with clients and partners to develop collaborative processes and relationships. You will work with business partners to understand their needs, establish collaborative processes, and build strong relationships to ensure that all expectations are met.
Safety and Compliance : Promote a culture of safety, security, and compliance in data center operations. This involves ensuring that all operations comply with safety and security standards, and fostering a culture where these values are prioritized.
Strategic Programs : Implement regional or global strategic programs. You will drive the implementation of strategic initiatives defined at the regional or global level, ensuring they are executed effectively within your sub-region.
Maintenance Oversight : Ensure compliance in Preventative and Corrective maintenance activities. This includes overseeing maintenance activities to ensure they are carried out in accordance with defined standards and seeking appropriate approvals for any exceptions.
Service Continuity : Support IT and Critical Environment service continuity. You will ensure the on-time and defect-free delivery of customer capacity within SLA commitments, and support the sub-region leader in maintaining service continuity.
Infrastructure Planning : Enable the planning and delivery of physical infrastructure and resources for growth. This involves planning for and delivering the necessary infrastructure, logistics, and resources to support anticipated growth within your sub-region.
Incident Management : Support incident management procedures and implement improvement plans. You will assist with managing major incidents that impact Microsoft cloud services, conduct post-incident reviews, and implement plans to prevent future incidents.
Financial Management : Ensure financial management and compliance, develop budgets, forecasts, and manage spending. This includes working with the operational efficiencies team to develop detailed budgets, forecasts, and manage both operational and capital spending.
Vendor Management : Oversee vendor and partner contracts and relationships. You will manage contracts and relationships with various service providers, including leased-facility landlords, IT and CE service providers, and partner support teams.
Collaboration : Contribute to improvement programs and drive consistency across the service portfolio. You will collaborate with global and regional management teams to contribute to improvement programs and ensure consistency in service delivery.
Leadership : Embrace and coach the One Microsoft culture and values, fostering stakeholder understanding and engagement. You will lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success, and ensure that teams can sustain and embrace changes through clear communication and engagement.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: .
High School Qualification or equivalent AND 6+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology or delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments
OR equivalent experience.
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications :
Project or program management experience and certification(s) (e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen, PMI, etc.)
Bachelor's or Technical College Degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related
Applicable certifications: APICS/Inventory Control, CompTIA, Microsoft, Network Certifications, CCNA Certifications, ITIL v3 Foundation, Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) Certifications.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate, present, and negotiate effectively across groups of various levels and disciplines, senior company leaders, engineers, suppliers, partners, and external customers
Strong working knowledge of physical IT infrastructures (e.g. Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling, etc.)
Knowledge of critical environment concepts and infrastructure (e.g. Electrical Distribution, Mechanical Cooling Systems, etc.)
A solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and forecasting
Data Center Operations Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $125,400 - $226,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $166,000 - $249,000 per year.
