Microsoft Corporation Software Quality Engineer II in Redmond, Washington
The Studios Quality team at Xbox Game Studios is looking for a Software Quality Engineer II who wants to make a big impact on the quality of the next generation of XGS titles. You’ll partner directly with your quality team, game development teams, and others in our partner organizations with the responsibility to identify opportunity for advancing our overall quality strategy, to provide a voice for our customers during the development process, and to enable the successful release of our products.
As a Quality Engineer in Studios Quality, you’ll be part of a community of other quality engineers and analysts, software engineers, and data scientists. You’ll have the opportunity to both learn from your peers and senior engineers as well as to mentor some of the members of our team who are earlier in career. You’ll contribute to our culture of quality, advancing our techniques and approach and working with our partners to ‘shift left’ to further integrate quality approaches into the development process.
Responsibilities
Own the quality strategy for broad and/or complex feature sets on your project
Assist the project’s quality lead throughout the development cycle, taking on some lead-level responsibilities as needed (e.g., backup for when the lead is out/in meetings, assisting with complex investigations, coordination of project-wide testing and reporting, etc.)
Be the subject matter expert for your areas with a keen awareness of intersectional features
Communicate status for your features that provides actionable data to the team and project leadership, customizing reports to meet the unique needs of each audience
Proactively seek out opportunities to utilize technology and data to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and confidence around your quality approach, recognizing when to leverage existing solutions and when to invest in new ones
Advocate for the end-user experience and proactively work with partners act on issues of high impact
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years software industry experience
OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years software industry experience
OR equivalent experience or capabilities
2+ years experience shipping software as part of a quality or test team, being personally responsible for complex and/or broad feature areas
2+ years experience creating plans that can effectively adapt to handle ambiguity or changes in priorities and market conditions
Leverages a robust engineering approach to address challenges, and proactively identifies innovative and efficient solutions that enable positive outcomes for all involved
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
Passion for games and interactive entertainment
Content and pipe line experience on games
A passion for Cars and Racing
Collaborates with peers and partners as part of a positive and healthy culture
Aptitude for testing principles and approaches, with an ability to apply and adapt them to novel and fluid problem sets
Desire to learn and contribute to advancing the quality discipline
Software Quality Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
