Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Redmond, Washington

The Windows Apps & hybrid, Developer Experiences, and open Platform Team’s mission is empower Windows developers to achieve more by creating exceptional experiences for end users. We are looking for a talented and experienced engineer to come and join our Co-Engineering and Developer Community (CoDe) team to engage with most influential global companies - our partners - to enable their Windows apps to adopt the latest silicon, AI and other platform innovations and deliver integrated and innovative experiences for Windows customers.

As a Software Engineer II in the Co-Engineering and Developer Community (CoDe) team, you will join a seasoned engineering group that advocates for the needs of our strategic partners and, by extension, the wider developer community. This role will lead and guide developers through close collaboration with multiple, strategic partners, to guide them in providing the best integration and use of Windows features such as Copilot runtime, Windows Studio Effects, Media Foundation, Windows Hello security, and how best to apply technologies such as DirectML & ONNX Runtime, to target the latest Windows powered devices including CoPilot+ PCs based on Arm and Intel silicon.

This role requires listening to our partners and understanding the multiple, diverse technologies and solutions, multiple languages and frameworks that are in-use, and to apply skills like tenacity and great communication skills to investigate high impact issues that are escalated to the team.

You will be grappling with intricate software design patterns and code challenges across diverse scenarios, collaborating with feature teams to find the original causes and seeking options for moving around blocking issues. A core pillar of this role is the ability to rapidly create meaningful code samples and solution patterns that illustrate how to adopt the best, most integrated solutions for Windows. Responsibilities

  • Engage with developers from strategic partners to resolve complex technical issues, build and share sample code, and assist with product team interactions.

  • Impacting and influencing product strategy without authority, drive cross group collaboration, successfully advocate for customers and apply critical thinking and creative solutions in a dynamic highly ambiguous working environment.

  • Engage with developer communities, share your code, and present in front of developer audiences both virtually and in-person. Helping others learn is part of who you are.

  • Work with stakeholders to help define and continuously improve the customer journey and scenarios.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years working as a software engineer, or similar role in the technical industry.

  • Experience with the full app lifecycle including development, delivery and maintenance of an app.

  • Experience in relationship management with subject matter experts in technical disciplines across multiple companies and the partner community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Open-source project contributions / ownership.

  • AI and ML experience through any of: DirectML, ONNX Runtime, PyTorch, Windows AI Studio.

  • Comfortable working with Developer Marketing, and feature teams.

  • Experience presenting at public events, creating samples, documentation and technical writing (blogs, articles etc).

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
