Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Redmond, Washington

Commerce + Ecosystems (C+E) is responsible for enabling and optimizing the end-to-end customer journey on the Microsoft Cloud. C+E's Commerce Platform and Experience (CPX) team helps customers learn about, purchase and pay for Microsoft and third-party products and services by facilitating all transactions, as well as managing the core commerce engine that powers Microsoft business, sales motions,

and cloud strategy.

The goal of CPX core commerce services team is to foster a data-driven culture, to encourage and enable the azure customers and partners to make more informed decisions through data. As part of that work, the team develops and operationalizes the high scale distributed data platform that enables Microsoft customers to realize and manage cloud costs and partner teams to operationalize their goals.

As a Software Engineer II on our team, you will help us build a data platform that processes terabytes of data per hour, serves customer calls with high reliability and low latency that enables azure customers to realize and manage azure costs. You will be empowered to envision, design, code, validate, and ship key features.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable, low-latency and reliable Azure services that deal with big-data in the cloud.

  • Design and develop key services for the data platform processes terabytes of data per hour.

  • Design and develop a data management framework that orchestrates processing both batch and streaming data at scale.

  • Maintain an unwavering focus on Quality of Service

  • Execute with high accountability to schedule and quality

  • Participate actively in detailed design, code reviews, bug/issue triage with the feature teams, and support well informed decisions towards business and engineering goals

  • Closely collaborate with partner teams when engineering & business dependencies exist

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
