Microsoft Corporation Senior Supply Chain Manager in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

Cloud Capacity Planning (CCP) is the central planning function within CSCP focusing on forecasting, capacity planning, hardware demand planning, inventory buffer strategies, and Integrated Business Planning (IBP). CCP is responsible for effectively collaborating with Cloud Services development partners, deeply understanding business goals, translating those needs into useful signals that inform long- mid- and short-term capacity plans, and providing consumable feedback signals that help inform future plans and goals. The Senior Supply Chain Manager closely partners with Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Data Centers, New Product Introduction Teams, and the other Supply Chain organizations to plan capacity and hardware demand.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned leader with effective capacity/demand planning skills, supply chain expertise, a robust collaborative approach towards problem solving consistent with Microsoft’s values. In this role you will:

  • Drive alignment and decisions across planning & operation teams and internal customers on datacenter capacity allocations

  • Operationalize weekly & monthly reviews to track capacity allocations, explain changes, and identify risks & mitigation strategies

  • Develop and leverage statistical analyses to create optimal allocation strategies

  • Perform scenario & sensitivity analysis to understand impact of demand and supply changes

  • Defining key business results and implement dashboards.

  • Identify business transformation opportunities to drive predictability and accuracy and partner with engineering teams to develop automation roadmap to support increasing scale and complexity

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Operations, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or Project Management with a Supply Chain or Operations field

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years experience with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other business intelligence and visualization tools e.g., Power BI, SQL, Power Pivot, Tableu.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An understanding of end-to-end supply chain interactions and interdependencies

  • Cross functional leadership and influencing skills, resulting in tangible business decisions and outcomes

  • Ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with key stakeholders, resolve problems, and seek practical solutions

  • Effective analytical skills and knowledge in root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability to implement and drive corrective actions and efficiencies in a matrix environment

  • Effective written/verbal communication skills, and executive presence

  • Experience in the High-Tech industry and Cloud/Hyperscale supply chain preferred

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience, e.g., SAP

  • Effective project management and process improvement skills

Integrated Business Planning IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 - $213,200 per year.
