The Bing Multimedia Team develops Bing’s Image and Video Search, Co-pilot/Chat, and Recommendations. The Image Chat and Understanding team is a group of dedicated Data and Applied Scientists that work within this org to imagine, develop and deliver Bing Image Co-pilot/Chat and state-of-the-art Image Understanding models to empower novel scenarios and experiences across Multimedia products. We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist for the Bing Multimedia Image Chat and Understanding Team.

Responsibilities
Deep Learning, Image Understanding, Machine Learning and Generative Large Language Models.
Training state-of-the-art deep learning models for tasks such as image captioning, object detection, image categorization, text-to-image matching and more.
Developing Bing Co-pilot/Chat for images using the latest AI Large Language Models from OpenAI.
Developing prompts, introducing new features / capabilities, and enabling groundbreaking scenarios.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research)
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR Doctorate in Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in programming languages including, but not limited to Python, C++/C#, or Java.
3+ years of academic or industry experience in the areas of large language models, computer vision, natural language processing, deep learning, machine learning, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
Research experience and publication in major conferences/journals (NeurIPS, CVPR, ICLR, ICML, ECCV, etc.)
Proficient communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Design and problem-solving skills and an ability to innovate and solve challenging technical problems
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
