Amazon Principal Technical Program Manager, Kuiper Customer Terminals in Redmond, Washington

Description

Kuiper is looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) located in Redmond, WA to support the Industrial Design, Product Design (Mechanical), Electrical Design, Antenna Design, and Customer Integration for the Customer Terminal (CT) Projects.

As a Principal TPM, you will lead the Device development of next generation customer terminal devices and systems working closely with including Business Development, Supply Chain, Electrical Engineering, Product Design, Antenna Engineering, and Industrial Design to meet Key Performance Metrics for technical, cost, validation, and schedule requirements.

The principal TPM will work with several cross functional teams such as Software and Firmware development to ensure Diagnostic and Production Device software maturity for key builds. You will collaborate with the Product Integrity, Finance, Operations (including Quality, Operations Program Managers, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Contract Manufacturers) to successfully mitigate challenges and maintain project milestone. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. The ideal person will have an entrepreneurial “Founder’s Mentality” and own the system deliverables like their own startup within the Customer Terminal organization.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

Principal TPM will need strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to scale communications to the correct audience for decisions to be made.

Emphasize speed of decision within the product development cycles and develop durable and scalable solutions through optimized prioritization of resources and personnel.

Working with overseas internal and external teams on developing products.

Scale and evolve key processes and design review checkpoint mechanisms to enable responsible last minute decision making on one way and two way door decisions.

Manage and communicate product development critical issues, work collaboratively to execute solutions meeting key product KPIs. The principal TPM will solve problems independently with escalations a last resort. They should be natural leaders with high value decision making utilized on a daily basis in order to meet Amazon's legendary focus on Customer Obsession and balancing against industry best schedules, quality and cost targets.

A day in the life

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing execution of the Device Hardware and Accessories (cables, power supplies, etc.) with a balance of technical skills, bias for action, customer obsession, and ownership. The TPM will collaborate daily onsite with the hardware development team located in Redmond, WA including Product Design, Industrial Design, Electrical, and Antenna teams. On a weekly basis, the TPM will create agendas and presentations leading to meetings at the Director and VP level to make timely one way and two way door decisions to maintain project timelines, finances, requirements and deliverables

About the team

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience or equivalent experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience or equivalent experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules or equivalent

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

  • Masters (technical or MBA)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
