Microsoft Corporation Principal Program Manager - Business Application Solutions in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) organization, which drives our cloud business, is expanding. Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) organization is responsible for supporting the Datacenter Critical Environment and enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).

We are looking for a  Principal Program Manager - Business Application Solutions to join our Microsoft Core Datacenter Procurement (CDP) team, which is part of the Cloud Data Center Services (CDS) team. As a member of the CDP extended leadership team, you will be responsible for understanding both operational business challenges and Information Technology (IT) requirements to drive the development of technological solutions. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders to unlock business value and with IT, engineering teams, vendors, and third-party partners to develop and implement applications.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Business Stakeholders : Partner with stakeholders to improve operational efficiency. This involves understanding and documenting business processes, requirements, and challenges to identify opportunities for enhancing operational efficiency in collaboration with Datacenter Operations, Core Datacenter Services, Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other relevant stakeholders, aiming for a positive business impact in the designated areas.

  • Translate Business Needs : Convert business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Define Success Criteria, Performance Metrics, and Track Objective Key Results (OKRs) : Establish and monitor Key Results to measure effectiveness.

  • Develop Applications and Reports : Create Power Apps and Power Business Intelligence (BI) reports. Visualize data using relevant tools.

  • Utilize Relevant Technologies : Implement solutions using DevOps, PowerApps, and Power BI.

  • Design and Implement Dashboards : Develop user-friendly dashboards for various applications, such as Supplier Spend Analytics, Supplier Scorecards, Incident and Service Level Agreement (SLA) Compliance Monitoring, Spares and Inventory Management, and other business-facing applications.

  • Coordinate with Teams and Partners : Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for more complex operational efficiency improvements.

  • Manage Implementation : Oversee the deployment of technological solutions to ensure they meet business objectives.

  • Project Management : Plan, budget, and manage project timelines for business application projects.

  • Stakeholder Communication : Keep stakeholders informed of progress and updates through regular reviews.

  • Training and Support : Provide end-user training and support to ensure successful adoption of new systems and technologies.

  • Stay Updated on Technology Trends : Keep ahead of technological advancements and their potential applications in improving business processes.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field AND 8+ years work experience in program management, technology solutions, architecture, consulting and/or technology domains

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years management (e.g., people, project, process, vendor, change) experience

  • 5+ years of experience with business analysis, solutions architecture, program management, or related experience

  • 4+ years of experience with PowerApps, PowerBI, and DevOps tools

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field AND 10+ years work experience in program management, technology solutions, architecture, consulting and/or technology domains

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Prior experience with business and supply chain concepts

  • Prior experience interacting with business and technical stakeholders

  • Prior experience leading cross functional teams in a Program/Project management capacity

  • Previous datacenter experience across a mix of operations, planning, and engineering

  • Experience leading v-teams (virtual teams) through development and launch of scalable complex programs leveraging a mix of technology, tooling, and business processes

  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives

  • Experience with agile development methodologies

  • Experience with data integration, application program interfaces (API's) and cloud based solutions

  • Experience with data analytics and related technologies, including Kusto (Azure Data Explorer), SQL, ETL (extract, transform, load) technologies, machine learning (ML), and Power BI

  • Capable of technical deep dives into platform design, verification flows, operating systems, networking, and storage, while connecting them to customer needs

  • Certifications in Application Development Platforms (Power Platform, DevOps, Dynamics 365)

  • Certifications in relevant technology or project management (Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP)

Business Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
