The Azure AI Platform Core product team within the AI Platform is building the largest and most efficient AI supercomputer in the world. We enable enterprise customers and internal teams at Microsoft to innovate using the power of AI to accelerate business impact at scale. We do so by building cloud native, efficient scalable services to power the platform that enables training, fine tuning and deploying LLMs and SLMs at an unparalleled scale.

We are looking a Principal Product Manager - AI Core Infrastructure to join our group and help us lead the next generation of AI Platform features and solutions which enable efficient and scalable AI cloud computing. As a Principal Product Manager - AI Core Infrastructure, you will be both customer facing and responsible for defining and delivering cloud-native, Kubernetes-based efficiencies to reduce COGS (Cost-of-Goods Sold) and improve performance, scale and utilization of cloud computing resources for AI at scale. You will own and run cross-functional programs and lead customer and internal stakeholder relationships across feature and product teams. Responsibilities

 The role involves collaborating closely with key customers, partners, and feature teams to solve complex platform problems at scale. Responsibilities will include: 

  • Define and deliver product features and enhancements that reduce COGS and improve performance, scale and utilization of Azure AI Platform and associated products including Azure OpenAI

  • Engage with key customers and partners to understand their needs and challenges and provide feedback and guidance on best practices and solutions

  • Collaborate with feature and product teams across AI Platform and Azure to align on vision, roadmap, priorities and dependencies

  • Drive technical excellence and quality standards for product development and delivery

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, engineering, research, marketing, sales and support

  • Monitor and measure the impact and value of product features and enhancements and drive continuous improvement

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmento OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years in cloud native platform technology like Kubernetes

  • 2+ years of practical experience in AI platform techniques & tools

Other Requirements:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure cloud platform experience preferred

  • Prior hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLM) such as OpenAI and others, Azure AI, Azure ML or their equivalent is highly preferred 

  • customer focus and a deep commitment to delivering products that create customer value and delightful experiences 

  • Enterprise customer and partner engagement skills including ability to create a delivery plan, track progress, and resolve issues, risks, and blockers as they arise 

  • Effective communication skills with a broad range of audiences and ability to influence without authority 

  • A high tolerance for ambiguity and change 

  • Outstanding problem solving and conflict-resolution skills across a set of technical, product, and business challenges 

  • Experience with enterprise solutions and a deep technical understanding of software and hardware 

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
