The Windows Store team is creating meaningful customer experiences by using innovative methodologies to gain insights from data to tell stories which influence and shape products. The team is hiring a Principal Data Engineering Lead to make an impact on how customers experience Microsoft Store on Windows and to help achieve Microsoft's broader mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.
As a Principal Data Engineering Lead , you will be responsible for structuring an efficient Data & Analytics Rhythm of business, collaborating with multiple teams to define roles, cadence, and appropriate stakeholders' participation. You will orchestrate teams to facilitate the gathering of insights and support data-driven analysis to drive outcomes and insights within the Data & Analytics organization.

Responsibilities
Lead, train and mentor a team with a focus on fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, defining, aligning and bringing clarity of the role of Data & Analytics team, ensuring the right stakeholders are engaged at the appropriate cadence.
Create an efficient data platform to understand the customer journey using reliable data.
Evaluate the progress of pipeline creation and conversion from uncommitted to committed and lead technical initiatives aiming for enhanced performance.
Implement robust tracking and reporting mechanisms to monitor the performance of Data & Analytics programs and initiatives. Use data-driven insights to refine and influence store teams' strategies and courses of action.
Provide end to end visibility into the health of the Data and Analytics business and flag early, concerning signals on an ongoing basis.
Establish an internal operational rhythm within the Data & Analytics team to enhance execution, drive outcomes, and use data-driven analysis for continuous improvement.
Collaborate closely with engineer, PM, Merch teams to augment insights, adjust as needed and contribute to shaping the overall strategy.
Proactively provide actionable insight and key learnings to leadership leveraging data, market trend, field feedback, and other available signals and recommend potential solutions to resolve the challenges.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work
OR equivalent experience.
5+ years experience architecting, designing, and operating large-scale big data services with dev-ops model.
Experience implementing and shipping production quality Data pipelines.
Experience using analytics tools such as Power BI or Adobe Analytics to derive data insights and using the Azure ecosystem (i.e. Azure Data Lake) or similar technologies to create a robust data platform.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in operations leadership, data analytics, and project management.
Ability to analyze complex data and generate actionable insights.
Long term strategic thinking and strong problem-solving skill.
Experience in managing budgets and resources.
Leadership experience to foster a culture of innovation and high performance.
Data Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
