Description
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
Key job responsibilities
The Kuiper team is looking for a Logistics Manager - Internal Transportation Ops to lead and scale the Intercampus Transportation Program, implement and lead processes, and support the external supply chain team to manage domestic and international outbound freight and third-party logistics services. This position will also take on the challenge of managing busy and congested yards by influencing and optimizing yard design and implementing yard management practices.
The ideal candidate has experience in global logistics, trade compliance, operational experience, has great business acumen and judgment, analytical abilities, written and verbal communication skills, and most importantly, a proven record of implementing scalable logistics programs. They will have a bias toward data driven decision making, be comfortable with ambiguity and juggling multiple projects, be able to think big and creatively (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
Specifically, in this role you will:
• Own and lead all Kuiper Intercampus Transportation Operations and manage the third-party logistics service provider relationship
• Work with Manufacturing Operations and Inventory Management to develop and implement the Kuiper inventory and logistics processes, systems and controls
• Scale logistics capabilities and capacities to meet Kuiper objectives with increasing volumes
• Manage internal and external third party freight and logistics suppliers
• Extract insights from data and be able to communicate appropriate triggers and actions
• Exhibit a constant passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience
• Influence supplier selections and engineering design decisions to factor sustainable quality
• Influence supplier investments in continuous improvement to improve results at continually lower costs and risks
• Prepare and provide data driven reviews to management with a focus on optimizing the supply chain for expediency and security
• Represent Kuiper Supply Chain on cross-functional initiatives.
• Own existing yard management and the design and improvement of yard flow.

Basic Qualifications
• 4+ years of relevant experience in industry and/or academia.
• 4+ years of experience in transportation, supply chain operations or logistics
• 3+ years of experience managing third party logistics providers
• 3+ years of experience managing and developing teams
• 3+ years of experience managing inbound/outbound freight yards
Preferred Qualifications
• Be comfortable with ambiguity and curious to learn new skills
• Curious to learn in depth about both technology and our customers concepts, and pushing your comfort zone.
• An effective multi-tasker who navigates a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with grace and efficiency.
• Experience with inventory management, inbound/outbound, and warehousing
• Experience with global trade compliance and supplier compliance auditing
• Experience designing and implementing freight yards or improving freight yard flow.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $101,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
