Amazon Global Content Writer - Marketing, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington

Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites that will deliver low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities, businesses and governments around the world. The Kuiper Marketing team is looking for an experienced Global Content Writer, consumer and enterprise, who is as entrepreneurial as they are creative. We are seeking someone who wants the thrill of influencing customers and business decision-makers through brilliant and technically-sound writing, and thrives on connecting with customers and businesses through well-crafted, distinct and compelling narratives. The Global Content Writer will be in service of delivering on one of Amazon’s most audacious business endeavors. They will help write the story of a new, world-class, global internet service from Amazon. They will create clear, precise and concise narratives and customer-facing marketing copy that will communicate Kuiper’s vision and value proposition to global audiences. They will collaborate with Kuiper Marketing (e.g., B2B, B2C, brand, creative, events, digital) and internal business partners (e.g., business development, program managers, designers, SDEs) to develop content for a broad range of customer segments that communicates the benefits of our groundbreaking service to drive affinity, preference and action.

Key job responsibilities

The successful candidate will exhibit:

  • Outstanding skills in communicating complex technical and business subjects to a variety of audiences (e.g., Brand, B2C, B2B, B2B2X, B2G)

  • Ability to translate business requirements into internal and external documentation that will drive content across multiple platforms (e.g., web, social, video, audio, print, etc.)

  • Ability to blend technical accuracy and creativity to develop copy content that speaks to specific needs of our audiences

  • Demonstrated expertise that combines clear and concise business writing with product storytelling

  • A passion for creating content that is as informative as it is engaging across multiple audiences and industries

  • Ability to understand the business needs of Project Kuiper and its wide range of customers

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams to ensure that technical documentation is aligned with business goals

  • Ability to be self-directed and effective working independently, and equally comfortable contributing in a global team environment

  • Ability to drive interaction and action with different business groups and scope documentation assignments

  • Affinity for technology and a proven experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS)

A day in the life

The Global Content Writer is a highly visible, high-impact role on the Kuiper Marketing team. They will thrive by working with large, cross-functional teams inside and outside of Amazon, while working directly with our largest and most demanding customers. This marketer will enjoy creating clarity and transparency in ambiguous situations, as well as end-to-end ownership over customer and technical narrative globally.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, linguistics, or related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • 8+ years of experience as a technical writer, editor, or content strategist, with a blend of technical and consumer marketing

  • Proven experience in technical editing/writing in a similar role

  • Strong editorial background with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience managing content projects of varying complexity, content review and localization

  • Ability to execute multiple content projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines

  • Ability to efficiently solve problems and work in a start-up environment

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple stakeholder relationships and needs in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong content strategy and information architecture skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of Satellite and Wireless technologies

  • Deep understanding of AWS or other cloud computing services (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) and the tools and systems/mechanisms that industry business units (IBUs) use daily

  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) and SEO

  • Experience working as part of a global team supporting multiple languages

  • Experience creating content for translation and localization across multiple owned and paid media platforms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
