The AI Platform organization at Microsoft has the charter to bring the best of our AI & Research assets, tools and cloud infrastructure, rich data, and trusted position together, to deliver AI and ML services and solutions to customers. The mission of the AI Customer Experience Engineering (CxE) team within the AI Platform organization is to co-innovate, incubate, and improve our core AI platform from scenarios utilizing Azure AI Services like Azure OpenAI/GPT, and Azure ML. We do so by building and infusing AI technologies in real world solutions and extending the signals from real world patterns to building robust, scalable AI platform services and products. To achieve this, we are co-innovating AI and ML powered solutions (rich APIs, ML models and end to end services) with our strategic ISVs and Enterprise customers, leveraging many other Azure technologies, including Azure core services and Python/C# microservices.

Responsibilities

  • You will help us build world class AI and ML solutions for our customers and partners involving Language Understanding & Generation, Speech, and similar areas involving technologies such as Azure OpenAI.

  • You will build complete, highly performant, intelligent, ML models and solutions. The work requires ML DevOps experience and building ML frameworks for evaluation, benchmarking, and testing of Large Language Models (LLM).  

  • You will drive the creation of great enterprise products, and will collaborate and partner with other product teams, data scientists and engineers, and deal with ambiguity and complexity.  

  • Knowledge transfer to partners and community, as well as presenting to customers or at public events.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

  • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

  • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of practical experience in Machine Learning techniques & tools, as evidenced by prior projects.  

  • 2+ years of experience with software design and development using general purpose programming language (Python/Java/C# etc.) and knowledge of data pipelines. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer models), BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers modelsor variants) and Natural Language Processing (NLP)

  • Experience with Azure AI Services is preferred.

  • Experience in dealing with ambiguity, and handling changes in customer requirements.

Applied Sciences IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
