GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION :
To assist Advisors in the Enrollment Office, which includes working with students in the areas of course advisement, testing and interpretation of college regulations/policies. To provide holistic advisement, counseling, and information about the college in a competent, informed, and professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field, required; minimum of three years of experience in higher education, preferred; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Attitude of optimism/able to inspire confidence. Excellent skills in the areas of communication, interpersonal relationships, organization, critical thinking and problem-solving, knowledge of the community college and available resources, student advocacy, and familiarity with the internet and Microsoft Office suite.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Represent Hinds Community College with the utmost professionalism and positivity to uphold and enhance the College’s reputation.
Coordinate college recruiting visits.
Manage marketing campaigns on social media and keep the sites updated.
Collaborate with the Advisors, both on campus and online, to provide excellent customer service throughout the advisement process.
Manage remote advising boxes for assigned campus locations as well as assist online advisors with requests as needed.
Serve as a contact for students seeking academic advising support.
Meet with students to discuss their degree progress and graduation requirements.
Assist students in reviewing their career goals and place them on the correct path to achieve their overall goals.
Provide support and resources to students and graduates by exploring various career and educational pathways
Create personalized college plans.
Deliver intrusive/appreciative advisement and holistic student support.
Assist with testing activities related to advisement, career exploration, and course placement.
Actively engage with student organizations and campus events to promote advising services.
Provide outstanding, high-quality, and unwavering customer service at all times.
