Eaton Corporation Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer - Power Electronics and Battery Management System in Raleigh, North Carolina

Eaton’s Electrical Sector – Battery Center of Excellence division is seeking a Sr. Embedded FW Engineer - Power Electronics and Battery Management System to join our team. This position will be based at our Raleigh, NC lab. The position does offer relocation assistance within the U.S. and company sponsorship.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $85,500 - $125,400 a year.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This individual will be responsible for firmware development, implementation, and validation for power conversion and battery management system products and platforms. This individual will also be responsible for driving the use and adoption of model-based techniques during the NPI process. This includes using model-in-the-loop (MIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) methodologies during the design and validation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Architects and designs robust embedded firmware for power conversion and battery management system products and platforms

• Develops embedded firmware on a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in C/C++ language for real-time control

• Implements, tests, and troubleshoots firmware

• Plans and performs firmware development and validation on Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) and lab

• Creates technical reports and presentations

• Initiates and leads design reviews and technical discussions, including brainstorming

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

• Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in the development of firmware for embedded systems, power converters, or battery management system products

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) HW and SW

• Experience in developing and implementing control algorithms with auto-code generation tools

• Experience using Matlab/Simulink for FW development and implementation

• Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members

• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes

Position Criteria:

• Knowledge of real-time operating systems, digital signal processing, and digital control

• Experience with DSP, FPGA, microcontrollers, and standard peripheral components

• Familiarity with development tools such as compilers and debuggers

• Ability to learn new skills, technical knowledge, products, or industry

• Strong written communication and verbal communication skills

Strong skills in embedded software architecture and C/C++ programming
