Eaton Corporation Power Electronics Control Specialist in Raleigh, North Carolina

Eaton’s Power Electronics and Battery Center of Excellence team is currently seeking a Power Electronics Control Specialist to join team. This position will be based at our Raleigh, NC facility. The position does offer relocation assistance.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $112,500 - $165,000 a year.

What you’ll do:

Eaton’s PE-Battery CoE accelerates the company’s growth through the development of technology and platforms that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable as well as standardized design methodologies that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provides a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products.

This individual will be a key member of the PE-Battery CoE and play a key role in driving the development of technology, platforms, common building blocks, and design methodologies to be leveraged by multiple business units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Lead the design and implementation of control architecture and algorithms, including state machines and protection features, for electric motors, power converters, and battery management systems.

• Lead the development of embedded software architecture, considering hardware interrupts, different task rates, and task sequences.

• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to seamlessly integrate control algorithms and firmware into hardware and validate them with the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and hardware.

• Create detailed technical documentation, including control and firmware architecture specifications, control algorithm descriptions, interface requirements, and design validation plans.

• Initiates and leads design reviews and technical discussions, including brainstorming

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

• Minimum 10 years of experience with control development, including the development of control architecture and algorithms

Skills:

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS in electrical engineering or equivalent.

• Knowledge of power electronics control, motor control, or battery control

• Experience in control and embedded SW validation with HIL (e.g., OPAL-RT HIL)

• Experience in developing and implementing controls with auto-code generation tools (e.g., Simulink Coder)

• Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members

• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes

• Experience with digital controls

• Experience with embedded software structuring and C/C++ programming
