UNC Health Care Med Staff System Specialist-Rex Medical Staff Services in Raleigh, North Carolina

Summary: Performs credentialing and technical related duties within Med Staff Services to ensure appropriate credentialing, tracking, reporting and database management for all Med Staff providers. Credentialing database software experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  1. Compiles, formats, and prepares reports using various software packages, which includes researching and gathering data from multiple sources. Merges data or links databases, develops complex queries to extrapolate statistics and data from the database for ad hoc reports.

  2. Defines the data report needs of the users in the department and the UNC system. Responds to requests for information and data from internal or external sources.

  3. May perform special projects or assignments and may supervise staff or oversee data input.

  4. Provides training and support to current Medical Staff Services members regarding credential software, input and analysis of data, and for the use of new or changing applications systems. Assists staff and serves as a resource for others.

  5. Responsible for the administration and maintenance of the CredentialStream database. Manages all aspects of credentialing/recredentialing, data verification, data quality assurance and analysis. Establishes policies and procedures regarding the administration of the database.

  6. Serves as the liaison between the Paging Directory and ISD, external vendors or organizations, and/or other departments. Troubleshoots and resolves problems/issues at the user level.

  7. Assists with onsite audits of credentials files by managed care organizations. Assists with providing credential files for all accreditation and other survey visits, including Joint Commission, DHHS, etc.

  8. Coordinates the administration and scheduling of a variety of professional meetings, seminar, or conferences. Coordinates the planning and logistical arrangements for special events.

  9. Provides guidance to the Credentialing Coordinator(s) to ensures that all initial and reappointment practitioner applications are processed in accordance with state and federal credentialing regulations including the Joint Commission, CMS, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and the TPN Medical Staff Bylaws.

Education Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

● No licensure or certification required.

Professional Experience Requirements:

● If a Bachelor's degree: One (1) year of experience in credential system management.

● If an Associate's degree: Five (5) years of experience in credential system management.

● If a High School diploma or GED: Nine (9) years of experience in credential system management.
