COASTAL FEDERAL C.U. Fraud Investigator Sr. in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Title:Fraud Investigator Sr.

Dept:Risk Management

Position Location:Raleigh, NC 27609. Hybrid. Must live in NC

Your impact:

As a Fraud Investigator Sr, you will maintain a fraud program focused on minimizing losses and protecting members. You will research, identify, and resolve suspicious, fraudulent, illegal, or improper activities; identify internal control breakdowns; and act in situations that pose risk. You will also train and mentor other Fraud Investigators on best practices, process changes, and quality of work.

As a key contributor to the Coastal team, your responsibilities will be:

  • Analyze and research reported or alerted instances of fraudulent activity (10%)
  • Conduct and document detailed fraud investigations across multiple platforms (20%)
  • Identify areas of high-risk fraud exposure and adjust services to reduce exposure (10%)
  • Perform quality reviews of peer alerts, investigations, and interactions (40%)
  • Handle escalated cases, train and partner with internal departments and peers (10%)
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prepare cases for criminal and/or civil prosecution, and attend court to pursue restitution and testify on behalf of Coastal (10%)

Required experience:

  • Five years of fraud investigation experience
  • Five years financial institution experience
  • Two years' experience training team members

Preferred experience:

  • Documenting processes and procedures
  • Analyzing data for fraud trends
  • Writing simple SQL statements
  • Excel pivot tables

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; related degree preferred.
  • Fraud Certification (CFE, CFCS, CAMS, or similar designation)
