Job Title:Application and Automation Manager
Position Location:Raleigh, NC. Hybrid (must live locally).
Your impact:
As the Application and Automation Manager, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing and enhancing our operational efficiency by leading the design, development, and implementation of automated solutions for various applications and processes. This role also is responsible for overseeing the administration, maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of Coastal's application servers to ensure they meet the needs of members, vendors, and business units. Additionally, the role manages the acquisition, installation, and upgrading our applications, automation of routine tasks, and troubleshooting of technical application issues.
As a key contributor to the Coastal team, your responsibilities will be:
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify areas where automation can streamline processes, improve accuracy, and enhance member services. Developing a comprehensive automation strategy aligned with the Credit Union's goals and objectives. Implementing optimizations to enhance efficiency and maintain operational resilience. Continuously monitoring the performance of automated processes, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Utilizing scripting languages and automation tools to develop custom solutions that integrate with existing systems and technologies (20%).
Collaborating with technology vendors and partners to evaluate, select, and implement automation tools and platforms that align with the Credit Union's needs. Keeping abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to automation, banking, and finance. Recommending innovative solutions to maintain the credit union's competitive edge (15%).
Overseeing the end-to-end implementation of automation projects, including workflow analysis, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. Leading the design and architecture of automation solutions for core and business applications (15%).
Leading the daily operations of Coastal's applications. This includes system processing and monitoring to ensure high system availability, maintenance, and performance. Reviewing application logs, verifying server integrity, assigning project related tasks, and managing scheduled tasks through automation or manual processes, ensuring successful completion of our daily good night process are key for optimal system uptime. Overseeing the installation, setup, and configuration of applications; ensuring proper process flows and documentation. Also managing application upgrades to maintain system availability for business units, members, partners, and vendors (20%).
Leading incident support by communicating, investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving application server issues. Additionally, implementing quality control procedures and adhering to change management protocols. As the manager, you will oversee on-call support and supervision, ensuring the team is available to address critical system issues and maintain operational continuity during off-hours or emergencies (15%).
Overseeing application server security by ensuring timely patching and remediation of security vulnerabilities. This includes implementing security best practices and working to safeguard enterprise systems against potential threats and breaches. Establishing monitoring and performance measurement mechanisms to track application availability and report on the status monthly. Analyzing metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implementing to enhance application server performance (15%).

Required experience:
- At least eight years of experience with optimizing, implementing, training, enhancing, or supporting one or more financial service software applications
- Minimum thr e years in each of the following:
- Identifying, analyzing, and implementing automation opportunities and optimizing processes
- Managing, operating, and troubleshooting systems that perform automation functions
- Managing vendor and partner relationships
- Management, staff development, or large project team leadership experience
Preferred experience:
- Eight years' experience with Windows and Linux OS / Unix Server Administration, Systems optimization, ITIL / ITSM implementation and management, Application hardware / software / Database troubleshooting, Systems monitoring tools, NOC management
- Credit union operations, banking systems, and financial services regulations
- Symitar Episys, Meridian Link, and ServiceNow
- Automation tools and technologies, such as RPA platforms, workflow automation tools, or scripting languages
- Application integration techniques, APIs, and data interchange formats
- Relational database systems, such as Microsoft SQL
