The Biophysics group is part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on enabling lead identification to advance our drug discovery pipeline across diverse therapeutic areas. We work in a dynamic, discovery research environment and utilize state-of-the-art biophysical techniques to identify novel ligands from multiple modalities such as fragments, small molecules, peptides, and therapeutic proteins.

Candidates should have hands-on experience in biophysical characterization of protein-ligand interactions with the ability to dig deeper into mechanisms-of-action aimed at understanding structure-activity relationships. Candidates who have protein biochemistry experience and have achieved success designing, expressing, purifying, and characterizing complex and challenging protein targets are also strongly encouraged to apply.

We recognize that the diversity of our team is our strength and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Successful candidates must demonstrate inclusive behaviors in working with a diverse group of scientists to drive our core mission.

The successful candidate will join our team of experienced and accomplished colleagues, with responsibilities that include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing in-depth biophysical and biochemical assays to determine kinetics, thermodynamics, and structural insights into macromolecular interactions.

  • Establishing comprehensive assays to enable screening campaigns and detailed hit profiling.

  • Designing and performing experiments with strong attention to detail and documentation in Electronic Laboratory Notebooks.

  • Partnering with key stakeholders within project team settings, including presenting data at team and department meetings.

  • Contributing to lab stewardship through safety, compliance, and operational excellence initiatives.

  • Cultivating an external scientific reputation through publications and presentations.

Qualifications:

Education :

  • A post-graduate degree in Biophysics or Protein Biochemistry is preferred, but candidates with degrees in other relevant fields are welcome to apply.

  • Ph.D. +/- relevant postdoctoral experience.

  • M.Sc. with at least 3 years of job experience in a relevant industrial or academic setting.

Required Skills :

  • In-depth knowledge of biophysical methodologies for studying protein-ligand interactions with experience in at least one of the following technologies:

  • Surface plasmon resonance (SPR)

  • Thermal shift assays (nDSF, TdF)

  • Microscale Thermophoresis (MST)

  • Calorimetry (DSC, ITC)

  • Experience with techniques such as spectroscopy (CD, fluorescence, stopped/quenched flow), DLS, SEC-MALS.

  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary for a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and to work independently in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.

  • Proven track record of impactful research and communication, evidenced through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific symposia.

Desirable Skills :

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience producing recombinant proteins, including gene design, expression (yeast, bacteria, insect and/or mammalian hosts), purification and characterization.

  • Experience with purification, structural and/or biophysical characterization of membrane proteins would be a significant advantage.
