Radford University International Admission and Recruitment Coordinator in Radford, Virginia

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Global Officer & Assistant Provost for Global Education and Engagement, the International Admission and Recruitment Coordinator serves as a primary university contact for potential international students interested in studying at Radford University. This position will work as a key university representative to identify and develop partnerships, programs and resources internationally, and work as a team member to execute the implementation of the recruitment strategy for the McGlothlin Center for International Education. This position will also assist with orientation and other student programming events.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop strategies and manage activities to meet the University’s international recruitment objectives.

  • Engage in recruitment efforts in assigned territory to achieve enrollment goals.

  • Identify and follow-up with prospective international students.

  • Advise international students through the enrollment process.

  • Compile reports reflecting figures with regard to international student enrollment.

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Provost, manage the recruitment agent network.

  • Identify potential agreements with educational institutions, governmental authorities and corporations with a focus on beneficial outcomes for the institution.

  • Cultivate relationships with partners (current and potential) and other educational professionals who work with international students.

  • Maintain an understanding of the various factors that affect international recruitment; as approved by a supervisor, participate in national conferences that address these issues.

  • Interpret and analyze data from a variety of sources to determine the most effective utilization of available resources.

  • Perform evaluations of academic credentials in order to make an admission’s determination.

  • Send admission letter to students.

  • Follow up with admitted students.

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the content regarding international student admission requirements on the university webpage, catalogs, and other forms of communication.

  • Serve and participate on University committees that pertain to international student issues (as assigned by the Chief Global Officer & Assistant Provost for Global Education and Engagement).

  • Assist with new international student orientation and student programming.

Required Qualifications:

  • One year of experience working in a higher education setting, preferably in an international or domestic admission office.

  • Strong knowledge of cross-cultural adjustment.

  • Demonstrated good organizational, interpersonal, group facilitation, writing and public speaking skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all constituencies, including alumni, faculty, students, parents and staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop knowledge of, respect for and skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.

  • Familiarity with both online and web-based recruitment techniques.

  • Valid passport, or the ability to obtain a passport upon hire.

  • Ability to travel independently to international locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in international education.

  • Experience working with educational agents.

  • Knowledge of foreign educational models.

  • Proficiency in a foreign language.

  • Experience living, working or studying abroad.

  • Knowledge of Slate, Banner, report writing features, database modules and web page modification/creation.

  • Strong knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word and other Microsoft programs.
