The Walsh Group Construction Project Cost Manager in Racine, Wisconsin

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cost management strategies and plans to ensure projects are completed within budget.

  • Prepare detailed cost forecasts and budget reports, analyzing variances and identifying trends to support financial decision-making.

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to estimate project costs, including materials, labor, and overheads, at various stages of the project lifecycle.

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and contractors to secure the best possible prices and terms, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality.

  • Implement cost control measures and monitor project expenditures, identifying and addressing any issues that could lead to budget overruns.

  • Lead or participate in cost review meetings with the project manager and project team.

  • Perform risk analysis to assess potential financial impacts, developing strategies to mitigate cost-related risks.

  • Review and approve invoices and claims from suppliers and contractors, ensuring all charges are accurate and justified.

  • Conduct post-project financial audits to assess cost management performance, identifying lessons learned and best practices for future projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project/ construction management, or a related field required.

  • 8+ years’ experience in project controls, cost control, or a similar role required.

  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in project management methodologies, schedule and cost control tools, and software required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication ability coupled with the ability to work as part of a fast-paced team required.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment required.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities required.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy required.
