The Senior Director, New Technology Deployments (Data Centers) is a critical role within the Data Center Operations team reporting to the VP, Datacenter Operations Americas. In this role you will be driving the adoption and implementation of cutting-edge liquid-cooled AI Super-Clusters, these solutions are a part of the industry’s transition towards energy-efficient technology.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AI infrastructure, data center technologies, and energy-efficient computing solutions, with a emphasis on liquid and hybrid cooling techniques, ensuring the most sustainable and effective deployments. You will interact and maintain relationships with various stakeholders across our organization. You will use your keen technical, business acumen, and financial management skills to manage our operating costs effectively, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and ecological responsibility. Interpersonal awareness, ability to navigate ambiguity, and communication skills will be pivotal in bringing your program management, technical abilities, and leadership experiences to a whole new level in supporting Microsoft’s success!

Responsibilities
Lead the planning, deployment, and scaling of liquid-cooled Super-Computers featuring NVIDIA cutting-edgeliquid systems within our data centers.
Manage large-scale deployments involving over liquid-cooled racks, ensuring energy efficiency, space optimization, and performance enhancement through advanced cooling technologies.
Implement hybrid cooling strategies (air and liquid cooling) to move heat away from systems more efficiently, reducing energy consumption and creating space for additional server racks and compute power.
Design and oversee the retrofitting of existing air-cooled data centers with liquid-cooling units, as well as the installation of direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems and immersion cooling tanks for enhanced performance.
Drive innovation in AI data center sustainability, focusing on reducing energy consumption, improving cooling efficiency, and minimizing operational costs.
Act as a thought leader within the organization, championing the use of hybrid and liquid-cooling solutions to support sustainable, next-generation AI data centers.
Manage Liquid Cooled Deployment Execution Team responsible for AI end-to-end equipment installs in our data centers to meet the rapidly growing customer demand. The team provides a unified platform including Governance, Risk & Issue Management, Program Communication and Executive Reporting.
Model, coach, and care for the team, ensuring alignment with Microsoft culture , values , and leadership principles.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
High School Diploma or equivalent AND 10+ years of experience in data center management, technology deployments, or related roles, with a focus on AI or high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.
3+ years of people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathmatics, Data Science or related field.
Familiarity with data center management platforms optimizing liquid-cooled systems for AI workloads is a plus.
Experience with liquid-cooling and hybrid cooling techniques, particularly in NVIDIA-based architectures.
Expertise in deploying and managing large-scale, high-performance computing environments with a focus on cooling efficiency.
Leadership, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Data Center Operations Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,800 - $267,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,800 - $294,000 per year.
