JOB SUMMARY
The Legal Assistant reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer. The role includes management of the contract approval process, ensuring that policies are followed, system administrator for the contract database, assuring that all compliance checks are completed and managing quality control for contract management and storage. Has responsibility for policies, procedures and education relating to contract management and associated compliance components. Works independently and interacts directly with internal customers. Assists in handing subpoenas. Interacts with internal customers on legal issues as appropriate and as directed by the Chief Legal Officer. Drafts correspondence, manages legal documents, does some basic legal research and acts as primary contact for legal department for internal and external customers.
Education/Training/Experience:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
Interest in legal department management required.
General training on Microsoft or equivalent applications.
Some knowledge of database management or desire to learn.
Knowledge of healthcare/hospitals and some medical/legal terminology.
Excellent verbal and written skills with strong organizational skills.
This position requires the attention of a detail oriented person, who is able to work independently, and is a self-starter.
