Job Description:
Foreign Markets team works with various internal and external groups in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of Market setups, oversights compliance with local rules and regulations, coordinates renewals and updates to support International Trading.
The Senior foreign Markets Analyst will have the primary responsibility to coordinate Foreign Markets opening for Manulife Funds. The Analyst will work with the various custodian banks in determining the requirements to complete the respective market location setups and engage all appropriate internal and external contacts to ensure timely completion. The analyst will also assist in other tasks related to foreign markets, communication and monitoring of Settlement Instructions, acting as liaison between trading desk and brokers, provide periodic reports summarizing status of pending items, as well as assistance with Proxy POAs.
The ideal candidate will have prior investment wealth funds experience with familiarity with Investment Funds structure and Global markets. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are a must.
Key Responsibilities:
Liaise with various Custodian Banks to support day-to-day operations to support International Trading.
Interface with operations teams, legal, compliance, and front office to ensure availability to trade in required markets.
Coordinate Settlement Instructions setup.
Act as liaison between trading desk and brokers.
Oversight local custodian changes and make sure necessary documentation is completed in timely manner to assure continuous operation.
Assist in the renewal of Proxy POA’s as required for the various international markets.
Ensure clear and concise process documentation is created and maintained up to date
Oversee the completion of onboarding cases in an efficient and timely manner and in line with the function goals
Ensure quality standards are being met across the end-to-end onboarding process. Identify inaccuracies or defects that might emerge
Mentor junior associates by conducting training and preparing/updating conceptual reference materials
Facilitate the team’s regular calibration trainings
Provide assistance on projects – to meet Management requirements by doing research, identifying needs, and developing/implementing solutions.
Participate in calls with external parties to raise discrepancies and propose action plans
Attend trainings and seminars to remain updated with market-specific changes and overall industry practices
Drive process improvements and collaborate with technology partners for data enhancements
Actively liaise with stakeholders in resolving issues and escalations. Initiate action plans and execute them to mitigate risk
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field
Hybrid Work Arrangement: Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home anytime (dependent on business need AND/OR current external environment/situation) and must be willing to work on night shift schedule
Skills to Hire:
Prior Investment Wealth Fund Experience and knowledge on Global Markets
Prior Middle Office, Accounting, Client service, Custody and/or Investment Operations management experience is an advantage
Familiarity of operational tasks associated with establishing client accounts
Highly developed stakeholder management skills
Expert communication and presentation skills
Advance Excel skills
Strong attention to detail with ability to create clear and concise process documentation
