    Position Summary

The Equipment and Automation Engineer is responsible for activities supporting increased productivity by automating processes/equipment as well as leading new equipment design and build activities to support growth. The Equipment and Automation Engineer is also responsible for overseeing validation of equipment and processes (i.e. IQ/OQ/PQ). The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and as a team, have a strong work ethic, positive and supportive attitude with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and productivity through automation,

  • Lead implementation and validation of automation initiatives to drive yield and cost improvements,

  • Lead design and user requirements of new equipment used in component manufacturing,

  • Collaborate with equipment vendors on new equipment as well as integrators on automation initiatives,

  • Oversee testing, validation, and monitoring of automation systems,

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to technicians, operators and other personnel,

  • Maintain compliance with Praxis’ Quality Management System,

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines and apply best practices for on-the-job safety in a production environment,

  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes while maintaining an orderly production

    What You Must Bring to This Role

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering,

  • 5+ years of practical experience preferred but not required,

  • Proven history of developing and applying automation to manufacturing equipment,

  • Demonstrated experience with PLC/SCADA/robotic programming and systems integration,

  • Demonstrated experience with equipment design . ,

  • Demonstrated experience to support process validation preferred,

  • Experience with solid modeling, mechanical drawings, schematics and P&IDs using Solidworks, CAD or similar software.

  • Proven attention to detail and focus in an active environment with the ability to transition between multiple and changing priorities.

  • Proven history working in Microsoft Office products,

  • Demonstrated verbal, written communication skills and active listening, with the ability to interact with and support all levels of associates

  • Proven experience in support role working in the medical device, aerospace or related industry preferred, with working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13495 and AS9100 quality management systems

  • Experience in production operations, safety, quality and security protocols

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred
