GENERAL DUTIES

Completes non-teaching projects or complex work in support of a Campus or University administrative or academic department. This work is generally of a temporary nature and requires specialized experience or expertise.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Social Worker will work with a multi-interdisciplinary Student Affairs team to address the health and wellbeing of the law school's student community in the Fall and Spring semester of 2024-2025 in a part-time capacity up to 15 hours per week. In addition, the Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Social Worker will offer one-on-one counseling services and/or group sessions to studentsin need of crisis interventions and experiencing racial trauma or race-based traumatic stress (RBTS).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Counseling

· Offering psychological counseling to students across a broad range of presenting issues.

· Performing crisis interventions for emergency psychological care and offering counseling services during scheduled telehealth hours.

· Planning, developing, and facilitating group counseling and support groups, as needed.

Outreach, Education, and Programming

· Planning, developing, coordinating, and conducting workshops on topics relevant to students' needs.

· Developing and implementing educational and prevention outreach programming, especially for underserved or special populations, and which demonstrates cultural responsiveness.

Additional

· Performing other duties as assigned by the full-time Psychological Counselor as well as the Director of Student Affairs and developing health and wellness programs and co-curricular educational activities in conjunction with community partners, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have at least eight years' experience serving clients across a broad range of presenting issues, a master's degree in mental health counseling, social work, psychology, or relevant field, and be a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) or licensed mental health counselor (LMHC).

  • Advanced diagnostic and therapeutic skills, particularly using short-term treatment interventions and crisis interventions, race trauma or race-based traumatic stress, and proven experience with interdisciplinary care.

  • Considerable experience working with law or graduate student populations or proven understanding of the issues facing law students and the law school community.

  • Considerable experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated cultural competence.

  • Understanding of critical race theory, racial-identity development models, and intersectionality.

  • Demonstrated experience in outreach education and educational programming.

  • Be self-motivated and have outstanding organizational and communication skills (including verbal, written and interpersonal).

  • Understand issues pertinent to the practice and enhancement of mediation using standard counseling techniques.

Bilingual preferred.

COMPENSATION

$64.32/hour - $78.30/hour

Hourly rate is commensurate upon experience.
