What you'll do:
The Director of Special Education works as a staff member of the Education Department and reports to the Principal and the Regional Director of Education. He/she is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, delivery, oversight and expansion of special education services. He/she provides leadership to the special education teams. He/she coordinates special education participation in organizational initiatives as assigned by the Principal or the Regional Director of Education. The Director of Special Education ensures ROP schools deliver specialized education services in compliance with federal and state requirements.
Assists the Regional Director of Education in management and oversight of special education program strategy, implementation, compliance, and planning.
Provides special education expertise and oversees special education
Assists in the development of evidence-based practices to ensure special education services maintain high standards across all ROP schools.
Provides support to ROP educational programs to ensure
Coordinates local and state compliance reviews related to special education
Serves as the liaison and interfaces with appropriate state and federal government agencies on reporting and compliance related to learning initiatives, special education services and career readiness programs.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with federal, state, and community
Fosters communication to ensure coordination of policies, goals, programs, and efforts to ensure consistency with agency goals and objectives relating to special education and vocational
Coordinates programs and services to ensure schools have resources to comprehensively deliver on IEPs and 504 plans.
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS in education with specialization in Special Education.
Must possess strong knowledge of state and federal guidelines pertaining to special education and
Prior supervisory experience.
Good interpersonal skills including the ability to interview potential employees if
If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible ROP driver. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.
Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB
