Summary

This is an unparalleled opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Senior Manager Finance with accountability for Risk Management and Insurance. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of insurance principles and risk management strategies. This influential role will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our organization's interests, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of risk awareness throughout the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the negotiation and placement of first party insurance policies, evaluating coverage options and terms to secure optimal protection for the organization.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conduct thorough risk assessments, assess insurable values, identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate countermeasures.

  • Provide expert guidance and support to business units in terms of building support systems and controls, claims management, property and crime risks

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments, proactively adapting risk management strategies to address evolving challenges.

  • Review and negotiate contractual insurance language across leases, supplier and customer agreements

  • Actively participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, leveraging risk management expertise to enhance overall organizational resilience.

Critical Qualifications

  • University degree and minimum 4 years experience in a relevant field

  • Proficient understanding of insurance principles, underwriting practices, and risk management methodologies.

  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting risk assessments, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and developing effective mitigation strategies.

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, real estate, and legal frameworks pertaining to risk management and insurance.

  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, great attention to detail, ability to work with large data sets and effective time management skills

  • Fosters teamwork by offering support and working for solutions. Ability to develop and leverage relationships with colleagues, brokers and insurers

  • General business acumen, negotiation and presentation skills

  • In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across Canada
