As a Field Service Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will have the opportunity to be based in Canada and work in our specialty diagnostics division. This division focuses on enhancing the diagnosis and management of blood cancers and immune system disorders. You will work with advanced diagnostic assays and instruments, making a meaningful impact on the health outcomes of patients in need.
In this role, you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing exceptional service to our customers. You will perform installations, maintenance, repairs, and other services on hospital and laboratory instruments in an assigned territory. Your work will directly contribute to the timely and professional delivery of our products, ensuring that our customers can make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
A Day in the Life:
Set up and install company instrumentation and peripheral equipment at customer sites
Conduct preventative maintenance service of instrumentation at customer sites
Offer technical support for resolving issues with instrumentation through phone, email, and/or in-person interactions.
Repair instruments and/or replace instrument components to restore functionality
Meet key quality/performance indicators based on established metrics
Ensure customer inquiries and requests are responded to within service level agreements
Upgrade and update instrument hardware or software per company strategic plans
Assist in the creation, edits, and modifications of Service Training manuals, Field Service Bulletins, and SOPs
Document calls and complaints in required software
Provide training for customers as well as Technical Service staff
Work with service management to recommend the level of service parts in trunk stocks
Recommend tactics that increase efficiency and improve quality of field engineering service and support
Manage customer satisfaction surveys and implement continuous improvement actions
Maintain open communication cross-departmentally to share market feedback
Actively participate in Technical Service, Sales/Marketing, and/or corporate initiatives
Maintain product knowledge and skill, attending training courses as required
Keys to Success:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED (equivalent experience considered)
Experience:
4 years' experience in a technical service role in the electrical field or with electronic systems
At least 2 years' experience as a field service engineer in support of laboratory, hospital, or medical instrumentation
Equivalent experience in electronics, engineering, physics, or related field of study preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Must be bilingual in French
Up to 75% travel, including weekends as needed in Canada, occasional international travel to other company locations for training or meetings
Valid Passport and good driving record required
Strong customer facing interaction and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Self-directed and takes initiative
Ability to multi-task among a variety of concurrent activities with the ability to manage priorities
Ability to work cohesively and effectively in a team environment
Demonstrated desire for self-development and eagerness to learn
Proficient using Microsoft Office products
