Are you an organized and proactive professional with a passion for social service? West Sound Workforce is partnering with a Pierce County municipality to find a Temporary Project Specialist for their Puyallup location. This organization provides safe, affordable housing to over 5,000 low-income households annually, with a dedicated team committed to improving lives in the community.

Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Specialist will support HUD Section 18 Disposition requirements by assisting residents in transitioning from Public Housing to the Housing Choice Voucher program. This role involves guiding households through the relocation process, educating them on their rights and responsibilities, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure a smooth and supportive transition.

What you will do as Project Specialist:

  • Communicate with residents to plan and execute relocation activities in accordance with HUD Section 18 Disposition requirements, addressing individual needs such as housing, transportation, and other relocation benefits
  • Present project information at resident and community meetings, including schedules, scopes of work, and anticipated impacts
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and support agencies to coordinate relocation efforts, resolve issues, and maintain project timelines and budgets
  • Respond to and problem-solve emergency relocation issues, ensuring effective communication with residents and the project team
  • Assist with HUD-required documentation, including interim and annual recertifications, and prepare reports for leadership as needed

What we are looking for:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience, with at least two years of relevant work in social services, housing, or property management. Experience with Housing Authorities or Affordable Housing is preferred
  • Familiarity with federal housing regulations, landlord/tenant laws, and housing options for low-income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn property management software like Yardi Voyager
  • Effective conflict resolution, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while working with culturally and economically diverse populations
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and auto insurance, with the ability to occasionally use a personal or company vehicle for work-related tasks
