DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician is responsible for preparing test articles, conducting tests, and performing instrumentation setup in compliance with engineering standards. The role involves maintaining lab equipment, troubleshooting, and ensuring the validity and accuracy of test results through proper test article build and data acquisition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in testing according to established procedures and methodology.

  • Prepare test articles, fixtures, rigs, and associated equipment for testing.

  • Install instrumentation into test articles per relevant engineering standards and test requirements.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the function and operation of test equipment and assess its contribution to test result validity.

  • Perform test stand installation, troubleshooting, setup, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

  • Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance by interpreting equipment records and data.

  • Document test methods, settings, and results, ensuring clarity for engineers and customers.

  • Ensure the upkeep and safety of laboratory spaces.

  • Perform other duties as required to support testing and lab operations.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent secondary education, preferably in a STEM field.

  • Regionally applicable certification or two-year associate’s degree in a relevant field of study may be required.

  • Licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations may be necessary.

Experience:

  • Some work experience and intermediate-level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

  • Hands-on experience with vibration equipment, including LMS Test Lab, is advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficient in linear and torsional vibration measurement, noise measurement, and modal testing.

  • Experience with integrating various sensors and managing vibration equipment.

  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized laboratory, adhering to 5S principles.

  • Capable of providing administrative support, including equipment shipment documentation and lab procurement.

  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time and provide shift support as needed.
