Cummins Inc. Product Design Technician - Level II in Pune, India
DESCRIPTION
Creates and maintains specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products per company, industry, national, and international standards, while positively impacting the organization's performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE):
Report any work-related injury, illness, incident, or hazard.
Comply with HSE standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
Engage in HSE training.
Quality:
Follow applicable standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures.
Perform quality checks on material planning master data (lead time, order quantities, etc.).
Work with Quality to disposition non-conforming material in a timely manner.
Delivery:
Initiate purchase and work orders to support the demand plan.
Participate in allocation calls with Sourcing Manager, supplier, and other Cummins entities.
Work with suppliers to reduce lead time and order quantities.
Collaborate with Supply Chain Planners to reposition excess inventory.
Provide accurate, timely updates on inventory availability and back order recovery plans.
Manage part change requests and ramp up/down activities.
Reconcile order boards for critical suppliers and parts.
Support the Deliver Supplier Improvement Process initiative.
Document, communicate, and follow-up on action items impacting plan execution.
Take ownership and accountability for delivery of supplier schedules.
Teamwork:

Participate in improvement projects (quality, safety, process, material flow, etc.).

Qualifications:
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
Skills:
Materials Planning System Utilization: Using the materials planning system to manage supply and demand plans, taking long-term corrective action on exception messages and other alerts based on root cause analysis.
Part Change Control Management: Evaluating and implementing engineering change requests to meet customer delivery requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
Plan for Every Part (PFEP): Using PFEP principles to ensure delivery of the right part at the right time in the right quantity to the right place.
Master Supply Scheduling: Establishing and maintaining a valid Master Production Schedule for a family of products.
Materials KPI Management: Operating in relation to recent or historical outputs to determine next steps to drive improvement.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (Creo) for mechanical design and analysis.
User-level knowledge in GD&T and P&ID.
Familiarity with Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.
Understanding of engineering standards and compliance requirements.
Additional Competencies:
Strong problem-solving abilities in complex design challenges.
Effective communication for cross-functional collaboration.
Knowledge of configuration management and change tracking, and PLM tool (Windchill knowledge).
