Emerson Engineer / Sr. Firmware Engineer in PUNE, India

Job Summary

The successful candidate in the Product Engineering team will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing firmware for industrial actuators. Our mission is to deliver highly reliable products to the market, which is what Emerson is known for and what our customers expect.

To support our mission, this role requires for rapid familiarization with our embedded products, product design, and technological needs. A strong exposure to Embedded Product Development Life Cycle processes, tools & methodologies is crucial to ensure process driven product development.

In this role, your responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and enhance firmware for industrial actuators.

  • Analyzing, and optimizing firmware performance.

  • Participation in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.

  • Troubleshooting and performing Root Cause Analysis of the issues.

  • Adherence to standard processes for code development, reuse, and portability.

  • Maintain documentation, bug tracking, and records related to the software development.

  • Comprehend technical requirements, collaborate with technical leads and other engineers to develop solutions that meet Emerson's quality standards.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electronics Engineering, Electrical, or related field.

  • Experience working in 16/32-bit Microcontrollers/Microprocessors.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems.

  • Experience with implementing industrial protocols such as HART, Modbus, Profibus, etc.

  • Low level firmware development for peripherals like Ethernet/USB/I2C/SPI/UART/Display etc.

  • Experience developing firmware based on RTOS.

  • Experience working in a global engineering environment.

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.

  • Working experience in developing product with Cybersecurity as per IEC62443

  • Familiarity with hardware design and debugging.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with global teams.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in electronics engineering, Electrical, or related field.

  • Experience with firmware development tools and IDEs (e.g., Keil, IAR Embedded Workbench).

  • Communication Protocols –Bluetooth, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP will be advantageous.

  • Prior experience in the industrial automation or control systems industry.
