Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Software Engineer in Pullman, Washington

Our Proposition:

We're looking for the Sherlock Holmes of embedded systems. If you can describe yourself as skilled at observation, deduction forensic science and logical reasoning, please keep reading. This is an opportunity for passionate lead level firmware engineers to join our elite team that performs forensic analysis for SEL protective relays. These engineers are tasked with developing a deep understanding of our protective relay products and relentlessly tracking down the root cause of unexpected behaviors. You'll apply your talents to something truly meaningful! We make sure that electricity is there when it's needed.

You'll be collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled technical professionals doing work that really matters. This is a unique opportunity to use your software engineering talents (C, C++, Python, assembly, embedded systems) in a role with genuine purpose.

About You:

  • You have a proven background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or the equivalent.

What We Value:

  • Demonstrated coding and design skills including some of: C, C++, C#, Java, Python, assembly, OO design

  • Appreciation for leveraging automation to improve our effectiveness and impact

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, effectively and efficiently both in writing and verbally

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work cooperatively in a very fast paced and close- knit team environment

  • Ability and desire to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

  • Academic achievements are important, but we’re flexible for passionate embedded system developers. It’s simpler if you have a B.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent. An advanced degree is even better.

  • Of course, we build critical infrastructure, so you’ll need to have background check results that are satisfactory to SEL and negative drug test result(s)
