Simulation Technician, College of Nursing Available Title(s): 255N-YNCSNPS - Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2 Business Title: Simulation Technician, College of Nursing Employee Type: Classified Time Type: Full time Position Term: 9 Month - Summer Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Simulation Technician will work as part of a team in the College of Nursing to deliver nursing students with experiential training vital towards providing essential healthcare to future patients. This position works closely with faculty, standardized patients (medical actors), nursing students and staff in order to support role-play scenarios, using medical equipment and technologies. They are key to setting up the medical environment and preparing for simulations experiences. Comfort in and around medical equipment and medical terminology will be necessary in this role. This role provides vital instructional and technical support and expertise for simulation operations and technology. This includes preparation, operation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikin-based simulators, computerized simulators virtual reality, digital cameras, audio/visual, networking devices and associated supplies and equipment. This position obtains required supplies, restocking, and cleaning supplies in the simulation lab. In additional to technical work, this position collaborates and supports a wide range of colleagues in the development and production of simulation scenarios. Required Qualifications: • A Bachelor's Degree with major study in specific instructional area; or equivalent education/experience. • Bachelor's degree and three years relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate patient simulation scenarios. • Ability to handle all situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to represent simulation resources to clients and external constituencies. • Capable of working with actors who serve as standardized patients. • Strong project management skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience operating and providing technical support for audio visual equipment, computer-based multimedia systems and their components. • Experience providing technical support for computer-based multimedia systems and their components, specific to medical field, such as beds/examination tables, patient monitors/vital sign monitors, and other health care equipment. • Experience soliciting and interpreting requirements from simulation end users (faculty, staff, etc) with vendor engineers for development or enhancement of technical systems. • Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology • Healthcare experience/knowledge - LPN, CNA, EMT, MA, or similar credential, or equivalent demonstrated experience • Experience working with actors, such as those who serve as standardized patients. • Experience working in a nursing or medical related higher education environment. • Technical writing experience, transferable to create simulation resources for clients and external constituencies. • Knowledge, understanding, and experience applying adult learning theory.
