As a Mechanical Engineer, a typical day might include the following: * Analyze, design, and develop sophisticated and robust components, and assemblies. * Performing tolerance studies, computer simulations, and other technical activities required to ensure product quality. * Evaluating, developing and modifying equipment to perform unique mechanical tasks. * Generating mechanical specifications for a new product or a change to an existing product. * Conducting design reviews to demonstrate product robustness and manufacturability. * Writing test plans, executing design tests, and reviewing test results. * Write comprehensive analysis and test plans, execute test, review test results, and correlate test results with analysis for use at peer design reviews. * Maintain dialogs with other engineering disciplines to achieve common goals. * Preparing and maintaining project notebooks and related documentation. * Generating and maintaining accurate bills of material. * Estimating labor and material for new projects. * Qualifying custom part vendors. * Mentoring and directing the efforts of interns, designers, and technicians. This job might be for you if: * B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * You have 4+ years SolidWorks experience and are proficient in drawing and evaluating tolerances. * You enjoy hands on interaction with products and systems used to create mechanical parts. * You excel in thinking creatively to find solutions to novel problems. * You are comfortable using mechanical measuring equipment to evaluate components. * You are detail-oriented and skilled at solving challenging problems. * You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills. * Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with automation and control systems. * Ability to read and follow electrical control schematics. * Understanding of basic electrical principles. * Familiarity in working with hardened alloys for tooling design. * Ability to understand and apply various industry standards to component design. * Experience effectively managing projects.
