Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. Mechanical Engineer in Pullman, Washington

As a Mechanical Engineer, a typical day might include the following: 1. Perform the following mechanical engineering functions: -- assembly design -- plastic and metal part design -- tolerance studies -- design for manufacturability/assembly -- component selection and specification -- thermal analysis and design -- mechanical shock and vibration analysis 2. Qualify and monitor component and custom part vendors.

  1. Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material. Provide accurate labor and material estimates.

  2. Review, support, approve and provide recommendations for improvements to documentation, mechanical designs, and manufacturing process design.

  3. Write test plans, conduct design tests, and review results.

  4. Maintain current and accurate project notebooks.

  5. Mentor ME Interns, Designers, and Associate ME's.

This job might be for you if: B.S. and/or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering 2+ years' experience in three or more of the following areas: -- electromechanical packaging design -- heat transfer -- materials and processes -- mechanics -- computer-aided design -- electronic manufacturing techniques Strong problem solving skills Strong project management experience Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

Preferred Qualifications 2+ years SolidWorks experience Environmental testing experience

Industrial plastics

Thermal modelling

Finite Element Analysis

Pay Range Data: We anticipate filling this position as a Mechanical Engineer at $69,100.00 - $108,100.00. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
