Position Details:

 

Summary of Duties:

 

Performs journey-level work in layout, construction and installation of electronic and life safety equipment. Troubleshoots, and maintains all electronic controllers, campus voice notification, campus clock network, uninterruptible power supplies, and radio repeater system. Perform inspections, testing, and repairing the battery backup emergency and exit lighting. Delivers and installs equipment, calibrate test equipment, construct electronic circuits and assemblies, punch block panels, or module or board swaps. Assist in the inspection of fire extinguishers, fire alarm, suppression systems, and standpipes.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• One year of experience as an Electronics Technician 1 in either general government or higher education classes OR three years experience as an electronics technician. Full-time training in electrical engineering, electronics, physics, chemistry or closely related field may be substituted, year for year, for up to two years of the required experience.

 

• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/ and departmental driving standards.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• NICET Certification in Special Hazard Suppression Systems.

 

• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems.

 

• Three (3) years' experience as a fire alarm technician.

 

• Experience with fire extinguishing systems.
