Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Operating Budget Director, this position performs complex and independent budget and policy analysis for planning, forecasting, coordination and implementation of the central university budget. This position will also review and analyze the impact of proposed state legislation and provide budgetary analysis as requested for decision making by senior leadership at WSU as well as other individuals, agencies and organizations.
This position's work location will be on the WSU campus in Pullman, WA. Position candidates must be able to work in-person at the Pullman campus location.
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration or other relevant field and four (4) years of experience in finance or budget administration which has included the use and development of spreadsheets, graphics and databases. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience with business intelligence tools.
• Experience performing complex data and financial analysis rapidly and accurately.
• Experience analyzing the effects of proposed rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Demonstrated Ability to use independent judgment, tact and diplomacy.
• Demonstrated Ability to work effectively with a broad spectrum of personnel: from executives to departmental administrators to fiscal and office support staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in business administration, Public administration, business management, accounting or related field.
• Experience preparing and explaining ad hoc reports to internal and external constituencies. Experience with data analysis and visualization involving large data sets
• Experience working in higher Education.
