Lockheed Martin UX Designer / Data Designer in Puerto Rico

Description: The selected candidate will serve as a UX Designer to work with stakeholders and data specialists (e.g. data analysts, data scientists) to understand problems and desired outcomes and design analytics products that enable data-driven business decision making. They will also work with teams across Lockheed Martin to continue developing the Data Design competency with tools, community-building and consulting services.

This position is for a UX Designer within Lockheed Martin (LM) Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) supporting Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS). The work location for this position is virtual within the United States including Puerto Rico.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Actively contributes to the Data Design field by bringing awareness, sharing knowledge and best practices with the data design community, and advocating for the value of user-centered design in data-driven decision making.

• Exhibit a degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness presenting large and complex data sets in a usable, understandable, and appealing way while working as part of an Agile scrum team.

• Leverage quantitative and qualitative user research and participatory design activities to identify user needs, help in requirements definition, user testing, and usability evaluations.

• Design user interfaces/experiences that align data insights with the users’ goals and needs.

• Effectively document and communicate UX and visual design of projects using personas, wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, workflows, user stories, test dashboards and visualizations.

• Establish processes, templates, training programs and tools supporting the design process for use by data analysts.

• Collaborate with data analysts to develop solutions that effectively communicate data.

• Create analytic dashboard mockups and final products in analytics tools.

Basic Qualifications:

• US Citizenship required and the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.

• Experience in relevant field (e.g. Data visualization design, UX design, UI design, Information Design, Design Thinking)

• Experience with facilitating user research and user testing sessions.

• Experience with storytelling and visualizations within the realm of data analytics.

• Experience with data analytics and/or visualization tools and solving business problems using data sets, Tableau preferred but candidates with experience in other data visualization tools like BusinessObjects, Qlik, MicroStrategy, Power BI will be considered.

• Ability to document solutions in support of standards and best practices.

• Ability to organize and execute a variety of ongoing priorities and projects.

• Must have strong problem-solving skills, business acumen, attention to detail, and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong portfolio showcasing relevant projects or case studies that demonstrate effective information design work (e.g. infographics, dashboards, website design, UX case studies, reports)

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Visualization Design, Graphic Design, Information Management/Systems/Sciences, Information Design, UX Design, or a related discipline

Desired Skills:

• Experience working with cross-functional, diverse, virtual teams

• Knowledge of design thinking methodologies

• Knowledge of data visualization theories and best practices

• Experience with whiteboarding design tools such as InVision, Mural, Balsamiq, Miro, etc.

• Experience with graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.

• Knowledge of web design tools such as Adobe XD, Wordpress, InVision, etc.

• Knowledge of Agile development processes and tools.

• Proactive communication skills and inquisitive nature

• Experience working with Adobe products (Illustrator or Photoshop)

• Desire to be an ambassador for UI/UX design

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $81,000 - $152,600. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $70,500 - $135,000 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
