Department Information

The mission of the Department of Music at Colorado State University Pueblo is to prepare undergraduate students to function professionally in their chosen field of music within the larger context of a liberal education, to provide artistic enrichment for the community, and to serve as an artistic resource.

Description of Job

Primary teaching responsibilities for this position include applied voice with additional teaching assignments in voice-related courses. We seek candidates who have demonstrated the potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team, and are dedicated to a supportive and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.

Research/creative activity and service are expected in this position. The selected candidate will teach applied voice, with an ability to teach a diverse range of vocal styles; teach voice-related courses; develop a research/creative activity agenda; and provide service to the School, College and University. Additional expectations include a willingness to contribute to all aspects of department life including active involvement in the recruitment, retention and mentoring of students; strong communication and organizational skills; and a commitment to community engagement.

Primary Duties

  • Instruct Applied Music in Voice (major and non-major levels)

  • Teach voice-related music course(s) as assigned; e.g. Diction, Staging for Singers, etc.

  • Model excellence as a performer; i.e. soloist and within various ensembles.

  • Participate in department recruiting events such as All-State Preparation, department auditions, Honor Choir Festival, etc.

  • Actively recruit in the state; meet and correspond with prospective students

$41,000 per nine month academic year

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Music

  • Established record of performance and accomplishment as a performer (Voice)

  • Established record of recruiting and building an applied studio (Voice)

  • Experience in teaching voice-related courses in support of various degrees, e.g. Vocal Techniques for Music Educators, Diction for Singers, Staging for Singers, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or DMA in Music

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and learners
